Public Forum
The Public Forum Camp will prepare students to participate and be successful in competitive debate through a combination of instruction and practice debates. Students will learn how to construct briefs, deliver the most persuasive speeches, and research effectively. More important that instruction, students will have the ability to debate and receive feedback from a number of different people. This will help students as they can work on the skills necessary to become successful debaters.
This Camp is appropriate for students of all ages, but especially rising 9th-12th graders.
Tuition
Week 1 and 2- $1,000
Week 3- Tournament Week- $500
Tournament Week is a new feature at the HDI. Participation stands alone. Local participants are invited to compete. The first two days will be focused on preparation for the tournament with guided instruction from faculty. The following three days will be the Tournament, which will give students the opportunity to experience a competitive Public Forum tournament. Awards will be given.
