UM Debate wins American Debate Association Fall Championship

On November 11-13, The UM Debate captured First Place in the Novice Division of the American Debate Association Fall Championship Tournament hosted by Clarion University in Pennsylvania. Julia Lynch and Adam Kozloski defeated The US Naval Academy in semifinals and The University of Minnesota in Finals to win the tournament. Julia was also named the top individual speaker in the tournament. The UM team of Tiffany Perez and Jiaying “Libby” Li also advanced into semifinals, losing to Minnesota. Tiffany was the 5th place speaker. In the Junior Varsity Division, Anna Ivanova and Anna Shah were the second place team, advancing into the final round, but losing a split decision to Vanderbilt. The team was coached by Patrick Waldinger and Oliver Brass.
